A
fishing village between Sariyer and Rumeli Feneri, Rumeli Kavagi
can be accessed via the highway from Sariyer or by sea from
Eminonu or Besiktas It is full of restaurants serving the
freshest of fish like many of the other Bosphorus shore villages,
but is especially known for all the celebrities of istanbul who
come there to dine. The village's small houses feature a simple
architectural style.

area is named after the lighthouse that has been guiding sailors for
150 years. The site on which the village of the same name stands has
actually been inhabited since prehistotric times It is a resort area,
good place to relax in the fresh air. Natural surroundings, and is
frequented by residents of the European side of istanbul. Well-preserved
Greek houses dominate the architecture. The castle, which looks as
if it were carved out of the rocky cliffs that rise above the
village, complements the historical character of the village. Fish
restaurants in the village are usually full, despite the
considerable distance from the city
